AP CSA Unit 2 MCQ Practice: Selection & Iteration

AP CSA Unit 2 MCQ Practice: Selection and Iteration

Practice Boolean expressions, conditionals, loops, algorithms, and nested iteration for AP Computer Science A Unit 2.

AP CSA Unit 2: Selection and Iteration

Unit 2: Selection and Iteration focuses on how Java programs make decisions, repeat instructions, and implement algorithms. The current College Board framework includes 12 topics, covering Boolean expressions, selection statements, loops, algorithms, nested iteration, and informal run-time analysis.

Unit 2 has an approximate 25–35% AP Exam weighting. Use the practice sections below to strengthen your ability to trace Java code, evaluate conditions, follow loop execution, and analyze algorithms.

Practice status: Topics marked Practice Available currently have relevant MCQ practice on JavaTutorOnline. Topics marked Coming Soon are part of the current College Board Unit 2 framework but do not yet have dedicated practice material.

Nested Iteration & Informal Run-Time Analysis

Topics 2.11–2.12 extend iteration to nested loops and introduce informal reasoning about how the amount of work performed by an algorithm changes as its input grows.

Topic 2.11
Nested Iteration
Trace inner and outer loops, calculate repeated execution, and analyze nested loop behavior and dependent loop bounds.
